Frequently Asked Hot Tub Questions

Why should I consider a hot tub?
Warm water therapy has proven to be beneficial in healing, relieving and preventing injuries. For many people, it also helps to ease the stresses of everyday life, as well as provide a great environment to reconnect with family and friends.
Is it difficult to install a hot tub? Where’s the best place to put it?
The answers to these questions are dependent on each individual situation, but the bottom line is that a hot tub is actually easy to install. In general, a hot tub can be installed in a few hours by a qualified, knowledgeable delivery crew without any special equipment. One of our network of local dealers will be able to assist you in this process to make sure things go as smooth as possible. To find a local dealer near you, click here.

I hear that taking care of a hot tub is difficult. Is that true?
Unlike most brands of hot tubs, taking care of a Master Spa is very easy. We understand that you are looking to purchase a hot tub to relax and not add one more thing to your “to-do” list. That’s why every Master Spa features our patented, time-saving Eco Pur Water Purification System, which drastically reduces the time and amount of maintenance needed on your hot tub using a combination of minerals and a unique filtration process that leaves the water crystal clear and silky smooth feeling.
Master Spas’ exclusive DuraMaster Cabinet is also maintenance free and nearly indestructible. Oh by the way, it comes with a lifetime warranty as well.
Are Master Spas hot tubs energy efficient?
Yes. Every Master Spa is built to exceed the highest possible energy standards set by the California Energy Commission (CEC). Master Spas uses Icynene foam, which will not lose its insulating value for the life of your spa, while other brands using less expensive urethane based foams may lose up to 50% of their R-value (the measure of an insulation’s ability to resist heat traveling through it) in as little as two years. Icynene is also environmentally friendly, as it does not emit gas. The Icynene insulation is sprayed onto the shell and plumbing of every spa and expands to fill every area ensuring you have the most energy efficient hot tub on the market.
Master Spas also manufacturers a high quality insulated, locking cover that plays a big part in keeping your energy bill down.
Overall costs of operation of your hot tub are also dependent on the size of the spa, where it’s located, and how often it is being used.

Does my hot tub need to have any special plumbing installed?
No. You will never need any special plumbing run to or from a Master Spa. All you need to do is put a garden hose over the edge to fill it up. Your hot tub also has an easy-to-accoress drain fitting that you can attach a garden hose to when you need to change the water.
What type of power does a hot tub require?
Most hot tubs require a dedicated 220V/50a system. Our owner’s manual can help you to determine exactly what you’ll need in addition to a qualified electrician. Some of our smaller hot tubs can be hooked up to a dedicated 110V/15a outlet. Hot tubs hooked up to 110V will generally have fewer therapy jets and smaller powered pumps and heaters.
How safe is a portable spa?
Safety is absolutely the top priority at Master Spas. That’s why every Master Spa is Electric Testing Labs (ETL) marked and built to stringent Underwriters Laboratoris (UL) safety standards. Inertek, who provides the ETL mark, is the worldwide leader in safety testing. Each Master Spas model has been submitted to Inertek for testing and approval. Additionally, Inertek performs quarterly surprise inspections at the Master Spas facility. This gives you peace of mind. As with any other product that involves water, you should follow all electrical precautions outlined in our owner’s manual and your local electric code. And even though our portable spas come with locking covers, you should never allow children to play around the spa without adult supervision.
How do I see a Master Spa in person?
This is easy. Just click here to find a local dealer, and you can visit them to see our products in person. Master Spas offers comprehensive training programs on our products, so you can be assured you will have a great experience visiting one of our dealers
How do I find the perfect hot tub for me?
Finding the perfect hot tub isn’t as difficult as you may think. A few things to think about:
- How big of an area do you have for the hot tub?
- Are you looking for a loung (reclining) seat or more open seating?
Once you’ve considered those questions, your local dealer can help narrow your options to one or two models. From there, they’ll suggest you put your bathing suit on and actually get in and try it. This helps to make sure the seating is comfortable for you and that the therapy jets are hitting all the right spots.
